 Classes

Beginners to advanced, hand building and wheel work, online or in-person

Earth Play Studio has been offering classes for about 26 years. Classes function on a termly basis, consisting of about 10 lessons of two and a half hours each.

When you join the studio you will be welcomed into a supportive and creative environment. Classes are styled in such a way that advanced students and beginners work alongside each other on their own projects.

Wheelwork, hand-building and sculpture are all techniques that are offered. Lissa likes to share her knowledge of surface decorating techniques so that her students can plan their end results with confidence and creativity. You can learn sgraffito, inlay, wax erosion, marbling, paper resist, image transfer, monoprinting and slip-trailing to name but a few.

There are three wheels available and beginners can learn the basics while students with more experience will be shown all kinds of advanced wheel-throwing techniques.

Beginners start with pinchpots, cylinders, slabs, slumped bowls and coiling.

Classes continue during loadshedding as the studio is equipped with an inverter that also powers the wheels.
